The photographs collectively entitled “Coca-Cola Advertisments” represent two phases of advertising styles in which Coca-Cola delved into. Originally the photographs or paintings of women depicted a ‘classic’ sort of style, a sense of maturity and class. This is shown through the clothing worn by the model, her simple make-up, and the poses expressed.
To compare the different eras of advertising, and who is influenced, there are drastic differences between the two sets of photographs of both models. The second model is dressed to suit a more modern style. Her dress is brightly coloured, her accessories are funky and large, and the make-up worn is much more elaborate in colour. The poses shown within the photograph display a sort of ‘fun’ being had, more so then feeling ‘classy’ with a Coca-Cola bottle. As well, the second model is clearly younger than the first, erasing the idea of Coke attracting an older audience. The only similarity between the models would be the “Red-Coke” lips, and noticeable red-tinge to the pictures. The red-tones were purposefully made stronger to symbolize the Coca-Cola red. The photographs collectively entitled “Coke Around the World” are to illustrate the idea that Coca-Cola is a global Brand, and the cans can be found anywhere in the world. The ‘stamps’ of ‘logos’ on the photographs could mean that these pictures are in fact advertisements for Coke, exampling the places it’s mark can be found. The purpose of the photographs is to create an understanding that outside of particular social groups or countries, the world shares the cultural identity of people who endorse Coca-Cola.
